Alex Appelbe talks to us about how KEEP helped his startup create a better industrial control system for companies like Procter & Gamble. By deploying machine learning-based neural networks onto the manufacturing equipment that runs their production lines, Metis Labs can help these companies to reduce pack and fill waste by up to 80%.
Alex is the co-founder and CEO of Metis Labs. Their mission is bringing AI-powered process control to manufacturing, leading to vast improvements in processes and outcomes.
KEEP stands for Knowledge Exchange and Embed Partnership and it’s part of our CAP AI programme. Through the programme, we pair researchers from top British universities with startups working in AI and ML, allowing them to commercialise their research.
Marek tell us, “Our KEEP hire had a tremendous impact on Transformative. Thanks to his efforts, we were able to build a one-of-a-kind algorithm whose predictive capabilities exceed those of all published research as well as various clinical benchmarks. We are now actively commercialising this technology in both Europe and the US.”
KEEP is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund. We still have several KEEP opportunities for the rest of 2022 – if you’re interested, please send an email to CAP-AI programme manager, Kim Holland.
