We speak to Sarah McVittie, co-founder of Dressipi, about how KEEP helped her startup improve its online shopping recommendation engine.
Dressipi works with online retailers like John Lewis to recommend fashion products to visitors. This is an interesting technical problem, since fashion varies so much depending on the season, current trends, consumer preferences, and other factors. Sarah explains why it’s much more complex to build a fashion recommendation algorithm than, for example, a recommendation algorithm for books or music.
KEEP stands for Knowledge Exchange and Embed Partnership and it’s part of our CAP AI programme. Through the programme, we pair researchers from top British universities with startups working in AI and ML, allowing them to commercialise their research.
KEEP is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund. We still have several KEEP opportunities for the rest of 2022 – if you’re interested, please send an email to CAP-AI programme manager, Kim Holland.
