Company: Cortirio
Role: Artificial Intelligence intern
Cortirio is a medical technology company developing portable medical imaging. The company’s lead product, Vascascope, will be a portable, wearable headband that will be able to detect and monitor intracranial bleeding at the point of care.
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is the most common cause of death and disability among the under 40s. Brain imaging is a prerequisite for effective treatment of traumatic brain injury; however, current imaging equipment, Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), is expensive and non-portable and therefore is only available in hospitals. This leads to delays in diagnosis, causing delays in treatment and ultimately increasing fatality and disability rates for patients.
Vascascope enables imaging to be used at the scene of the injury to enable faster treatment, thereby reducing disability burdens and saving lives.
– Aspects of the intern role:
Assist with the development and training of an AI imaging processor upon real and simulated datasets.
Create quality metrics for automatic analysis of AI performance.
Improve simulated data sets by modelling real-world noise conditions e.g noise and defect injection.
– Skills/qualifications needed by the intern to carry out this role:
Required
Experience with AI training and managing datasets within databases
Good computer programming skills including python
Comfortable with working with linux on the command line, e.g navigating, scripting and remote access
Optional
Physics, computer science background
Experience with computer simulations, matlab or pytorch.
This internship placement would start from September 2018 onwards.
