Role: Junior Data Scientist

The team at CENTURY is committed to using technology to improve learner outcomes and make teachers’ lives easier. CENTURY Tech is a cloud-based web platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology, cognitive neuroscience and big data insights to engage students through a personalised learning experience. At the same time, CENTURY empowers teachers to be the best teachers they can be by automating marking and providing real-time data insights.
We are seeking a Junior Data Scientist to work on building a content recommendation system to help students make the most of our adaptive learning offering. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team of developers, designers, content creators and neuroscientists, using cutting-edge technology such as Apache Spark and Kubernetes.
Basic Qualifications
- Masters/PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering (or other quantitative discipline) from a top institution
- Solid understanding and experience of implementing Machine Learning algorithms
- Well-rounded knowledge of ML/statistical concepts (eg. around regression, classification, decision trees and neural networks)
- Experience with R
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and ability to integrate with other developers across the entire stack
Bonus Skills
- Experience working within software engineering teams using collaborative tools such as Git
- Experience with Scala / Apache Spark
- Expert knowledge in R
- Experience of preparing, processing and analysing large data sets
- Experience of using cloud ML resources
