Who are PopUp Business School?

The PopUp Business School is a free, non-traditional, start-up training course that offers individuals aspiring to become entrepreneurs, an alternative approach to starting a business. Whilst our primary focus is ensuring that our local residents can benefit from this opportunity, the workshop is open to everyone. PopUp Business school’s model is aimed at getting businesses off the ground efficiently by providing the correct and practical tools to developing a successful business. This is achieved through a combination of means including: inspiration and confidence-building, teaching entrepreneurs the quickest way to make their first sale and begin trading, learning how to create a website, information on how to manage taxes, marketing and PR strategies and more. The PopUp Business School have a primary focus to primarily support those who are from harder to reach groups particularly those who are either from disadvantaged backgrounds, BAME and female entrepreneurs.

Westminster City Council have worked with the PopUp Business School over the course of the last two years and have successful delivered five workshops within our regeneration areas. To date the workshops have provided an estimated economic impact of circa £2,000,000 and on average has seen 30-40% of participants successfully trading at the end of the two-week workshop.

Additional Business Support

Westminster City Council provides support to those who have undertaken the two-week course, particularly in the areas of finding affordable workspace in the borough, signposting to relevant services and organisations, business support initiatives, grant-funded projects and much more.
